Family photoshoots at home

In home Home Family Sessions

Where your kids get to jump on the bed, tickle and snuggle with mum and dad and show off their favourite toys! In home shoots can be more relaxing for everyone, and if it all gets a bit much kids can stop and have a snack plus you can change clothes easily if someone gets dirty!

What time will our in home shoot occur?

I normally book in home shoots at 10am on weekends or 11am on weekdays, this gives you a bit of time to get organised and caffeinated before I arrive! I also find most kids are happiest in the morning. If this time doesn’t work for your routine, just let me know and we can work out another time.

How do we prepare our home?

As a natural light photographer, I will use the rooms in your home with the best light. When I arrive, I’ll ask if I can take a look around so that I can work out the best locations for your photos. In general, I use your master bedroom, living room and the kid’s bedrooms. I’m also happy to take some photos in your backyard.

You don’t need to clean your home top to bottom, but if you are able to clear away anything you don’t want photographed that will ensure your images are more striking. You might like to put things on your bed side tables in drawers, clothes baskets in wardrobes for example. I’m also happy to move anything that might detract from the shot.

Tips for a successful shoot!

Bribery, bribery, bribery! It might not be the best parenting advice but it’s the best advice I can give you to ensure we get some really beautiful shots. Keeping the mood positive and fun is the best way to ensure the shoot is a success.

Feed your kids before I arrive so that they have nice full tummies!

Let them know how much fun it is going to be. I’ll play games with your children, get them to jump on the beds, cuddle you, I might get you to read them a story or run up and down the hallway.

Reward rather than threaten - it keeps the mood light and kids happier!

If your child is sick, let me know and we can reschedule. It’s best we don’t push through when they are unwell, they will just look miserable in the photos.
